Exploring the Digital Twin concept for use in civil infrastructure – Presented by Joep Paulissen, TNO, at Intelligent Sensor Networks Conference, on January 18, 2019, at Rotterdam AHOY, The Netherlands.
In 2018 the TNO Unit Building, Infrastructure and Maritime initiated research activities into the use of the Digital Twin concept for civil infrastructure. With the aim of ‘Learning by Doing’ we selected a relevant case study within our context of assessing the reliability of bridge structures.
By connecting TNO knowledge on relevant IT techniques with our domain knowledge on steel bridges we created first relatively simple digital twin of a steel bridge deck susceptible to fatigue cracking. Sensors and sensor networks for smart structures – Presented by Rob Jansen, TNO
An overview will be presented for two types of structures, an offshore wind turbine and a bridge, where innovative sensors are installed. The presentation will discuss what type of sensors are used, how they are connected to the sensor network (or sensor system) and what is done with the data being generated. Sensor technology is in a transition phase – Interview with ISN Conference speaker Rob Jansen, TNO
Rob Jansen knows everything there is to know about sensors. For TNO, a major Dutch independent research organization, he specializes in ‘structural health monitoring’, technology to assess the condition of infrastructures and buildings based on sensor data. He also works on developing new sensor technology. Continue reading “Sensor technology is in a transition phase – Interview with ISN Conference speaker Rob Jansen, TNO”
“Sensors, how to get them faster, smaller and add more functionality” – Presented by Rob Jansen, TNO, at Intelligent Sensor Networks Conference, Nov 15, at High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
I will highlight the development effort within TNO to make sensors smaller and faster and ways to add more functionality. I will focus on sensors for Structural Health Monitoring purposes. “Towards a Sensing Stadium”, Presented by Dimitri Hehanussa, TNO
Almost twenty years ago the Amsterdam ArenA was the first multifunctional stadium in the world. It played a major role in the economic and societal development of Amsterdam South East. Now it reached a major point in its existence. The stadium will be rebuild and transformed into a next generation stadium.
The Amsterdam ArenA Innovation Center has been opened on June 6th 2015. The Innovation Center includes a close collaboration between the strategic partners: Amsterdam ArenA, KPN, TNO, KPMG, Huawei, Municipality of Amsterdam and Microsoft. Jan Burgmeijer, TNO, Presents: “Smart Data Factory for Logistics”
Logistic innovations like Cross Chain Collaboration, Synchromodality and Smart Trade Compliancy & Border Management can only be successful if business data from supply chain partners and sensor data of the infrastructure are combined. Trust, privacy and security are important issues to get access to these data.
TNO is working with partners from the logistics sector and some IT-partners on finding the most interested use cases and see how we can make business cases out of these. To convince the sector partners a real live demo of the logistic innovation is necessary. TNO has developed a data connectivity platform to enable the demonstration of the use cases and to support small pilots. A number of use cases and demo results will be presented. Future plans are presented. Continue reading “Jan Burgmeijer, TNO, Presents: “Smart Data Factory for Logistics””
Egbert-Jan Sol, TNO, Presents: “Smart Industry = (Industrie 4.0 + Innovation 4.0 + Economy 4.0)/IoT”
Industrie 4.0, innovation 4.0 and economy 4.0 are all three further developments of ICT with Internet of Things as the enabler. The presentation will address these three developments and the results in what we call in the Netherlands Smart Industry, the acceleration of ICT application in our industry and the consequences of this trend in business, but also in the need of skills upgrading by many. Continue reading “Egbert-Jan Sol, TNO, Presents: “Smart Industry = (Industrie 4.0 + Innovation 4.0 + Economy 4.0)/IoT””
“Sensors to sweat the assets”, Presented by Peter Laloli, TNO, at Intelligent Sensor Networks Conference
Important critical infrastructure is indispensable in the supply chain of energy, in transportation and in protection against water flooding. Massive investments in critical infrastructures have been made to reach the current level of economic and social development.
