IoT: The desired step change in Maintenance – Presented by Perry van der Meijden, ENGIE Services West Industrie, at the Intelligent Sensor Networks Conference, which will take place on January 18, 2019, at Rotterdam AHOY, The Netherlands.
The way in which intelligent sensors change the position of maintenance: From cost driver to value creator.
About Perry van der Meijden
Perry van der Meijden is Manager Maintenance Consultancy at ENGIE Services West Industrie. He has been working more than 20 years in the field of maintenance and asset management within industrial environments.
What drives you?
My mission is to create more value for our clients with their asset base. From a maintenance point of view, this value results from a high installation availability and low maintenance/energy costs.
What are the three things you would take with you on a deserted island?
Besides my family, I would take with me some solar panels and a smartphone. The most important thing is, that I want to stay connected with the rest of the world to make sure, that my kids are also able to enjoy the beautiful things that our earth has to offer.
What emerging technologies/trends do you see as having the greatest potential in the short and long run?
Short run: improved battery life. Long run: artificial intelligence and compact energy storage.
What kind of impact do you expect them to have?
I believe that new and efficient ways of energy storage can be an incentive for sustainable innovations . AI will also help people to get the best out of it.
What are the barriers that might stand in the way?
The biggest barrier is man himself. Technology develops many times faster than people can keep up with. It is the challenge to keep changes small and specific.
Why should the delegate attend your presentation?
We will show how the maintenance process is supported by intelligent sensors in a way that all stakeholders benefit directly from this.
