Jurgen Heijmans of Philips presents ‘Platforms to enable Philips’ digital strategy’ at IoT Event

Jurgen Heijmans is Product Manager Connected Products Platform. Abstract of his presentation: Digital technologies and associated changes in consumer behaviors and expectations are increasingly impacting the Philips business. Within the Philips strategic focus areas of health and wellbeing, new sensors, pervasive connectivity, automated services, communities and other ingredients are opening up new opportunities for our portfolio of products, services, software and systems.

Digital propositions are offerings that consist of integrated combinations of hardware, software and services, interconnected by secure data and digital content to deliver meaningful smart solutions to a community of customers. Different digital propositions will integrate in digital ecosystems to jointly fulfil a total needs space. Philips focusses on common platforms with reusable foundational elements where there are synergies between different digital propositions, recognizing that proposition-specific software systems both in the cloud and embedded in devices will also exist in Philips. This presentation will introduce the concepts of digital domains and ecosystems and how we would like to enable these through generic platform services such as the Connected Products Platform.
