Jan Van Lishout, Solutions Director Intelligent Systems at Altran, presents at the Internet of Things Event: “VueForge: how big data can be transformed into new business”.
In industries such as the automotive, healthcare, railway and even the energy sectors, the machines are more and more connected and are gradually offering greater access to their data. Massive amounts of data are being harvested by numerous sensors installed in cars, trains, planes, medical devices, etc. This new, industrial big data market raises the fundamental question as to how big data can be transformed into new business.
Industrial sectors are being faced with a two-fold connectivity challenge, namely: how to harvest data at the lowest cost using the best adapted architecture, and then analyse this data so as to create value for industries and generate new services for end users.
“A unique Internet of Machines offer that combines technology, usage and new business models which are key to success in the complex domain of connectivity.”
About Jan Van Lishout
Jan’s dream and passion as a youngster has always been to be a building architect to create everlasting buildings combining proven techniques with bald ideas and a good portion of pragmatism. Two decades later, he looks back at an exciting career in the software industry taking the same pragmatic approach but using different tools and building blocks to reach his goal. Jan joined Altran in 2010 as Solutions Director Intelligent Systems after a 16 year career in the business software industry.
He looked from different angles towards IT solutions, from technical software engineer to functional analyst, from EMEA Lead Architect to Country Sales Manager. Those different views on the business created his ability to translate current business needs into viable and innovative software architectures. His focus on real time Complex Event Processing to support Agile business processing implementing RFID, sensors and location based services are only a few elements why Jan believes companies and solutions need to embrace the vision and possibilities of the Internet of Things.
