Matthijs Vonder of TNO will be talking about Large scale sensor data logistics for Smart Dairy Farming at the ISN Conference
The goal of the Smart Dairy Farming (SDF) project is to support dairy farmers in the care of individual animals. With the specific goal of a longer productive stay at the farm due to improvement of individual health. In SDF cow models are developed by experts to give a farmer specific work-instructions on a specific cow. These models are fed with near real time sensor data from different (existing and new) systems on the farm.
In the presentation our vision is presented on how to develop sensor data logistics on a large scale. In the Netherlands there are 18000+ farms with in total ca. 1.5 million milk cows. The ingredients are: transparency in the chain, open innovation, InfoBroker, cow-centric-sensor-data, (near) realtime and the farmer in control. Our motto is “Think big, start small”. And it can be re-used/converted in other domains as well
About Matthijs Vonder
Matthijs Vonder is sr. Research Scientist and project leader of larger research projects at TNO. Matthijs is also leader of the TNO knowledge group Monitoring and Control, which has a knowledge on large scale multi-domain and multi-party sensor systems. His group focusses on the (near) real-time information collection, distribution, and transformation of (big) sensor data into information and information into knowledge. Matthijs has been involved in levy monitoring through the IJkdijk experiments since 2005, in the Flood Control program since 2009 and he is work package leader within the Smart Dairy Farming project since 2012.
TNO is an independent research organisation whose expertise and research make an important contribution to the competitiveness of companies and organisations, to the economy and to the quality of society as a whole. TNO’s unique position is attributable to its versatility and capacity to integrate this knowledge.
Innovation with purpose is what TNO stands for. We develop knowledge not for its own sake but for practical application. To create new products that make life more pleasant and valuable and help companies innovate. To find creative answers to the questions posed by society.
