IBM Builds A ‘Flashing Pedestrian Crossing’ To Emphasize Crosswalk Safety

Together with creative agency Ogilvy and Mather, IBM teamed up with Dutch children to help build a ‘flashing pedestrian crossing’ in Netherlands (VIDEO).
The issue of road safety was a concern as many cars do not stop at crosswalks, so IBM implemented a child’s idea to create a flashing pedestrian crossing as an experiment.

When someone steps on the crossing, it lights up, making it more visible to drivers—emphasizing the importance of allowing pedestrians to cross.
