IoT Technology Reduces Waiting Time in Airports

Security line wait times at Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) are down by about 33 percent due to the use of a mobile technology solution installed last summer that allows the airport to address long lines as they occur. The BlipTrack system, provided by Danish information technology firm Blip Systems, collects the locations of passengers moving through the security process, via their smartphones and tablets, and calculates wait times based on that data. In-flight sensor tests a step toward Structural Health Monitoring for safer flights

Nine commercial aircraft flying regular routes are on the frontier of aviation safety, carrying sensors that monitor their structural health along with their routine maintenance. These flight tests are part of a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification process that will make the sensors widely available to U.S. airlines. Continental introduces new Future tire pressure sensors

Automotive supplier Continental has developed new Future tire pressure sensors, which can detect if a tire needs to be changed in case of insufficient tread depth. The new Continental tire sensors, which will be fitted underneath the tread of a tire, will help the tire pressure monitoring system to accurately detect the size of contact area to calculate the vehicle load.
