Fibre Optic Sensing as a Base of Asset Management – Presented by C. Cordova, Yokogawa

Fibre Optic Sensing as a Base of Asset Management – Presented by Cordova Cordova, Yokogawa, at the Intelligent Sensor Networks Conference, which will take place on November 8, 2017, at High Tech Campus Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

Fibre optic sensing solutions is one of the latest sensor technologies which is used not only in the automation and process industry but also infrastructure from civil, transport, and power. Its multiple sensing points capability in one single fibre optic—which is equal to multiple sensors—offer a cost effective solution in monitoring large equipment and wide area such as industrial plant, civil infrastructure, and environment. With the data available digitally, integration with any asset management system is achievable easily. Continue reading “Fibre Optic Sensing as a Base of Asset Management – Presented by C. Process Mining and Data Engineering for Smart Industry – Presented by Erik-Jan van der Linden, ProcessGold International

Process Mining and Data Engineering for Smart Industry – Presented by Erik-Jan van der Linden, ProcessGold International, at the Intelligent Sensor Networks Conference on November 08, 2017, at High Tech Campus Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

Process Mining provides industry with the possibility to find out how processes go about in practice, and to continuously improve these.

Process Mining is an example of the good use of data in Smart Industry. In particular sharing of data between partners in Industry will improve processes. Continue reading “Process Mining and Data Engineering for Smart Industry – Presented by Erik-Jan van der Linden, ProcessGold International”

Preserving critical infrastructures using optical fiber – Presented by Alejandro Dominguez-Lopez, InPhoTech

Preserving critical infrastructures using optical fiber – Presented by Alejandro Dominguez-Lopez, InPhoTech, at the Intelligent Sensor Networks Conference, which will take place on November 8, 2017, at High Tech Campus Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

Did you know 90 % of today’s communications go through optical fiber? Did you also know the majority of infrastructures, such as railways, offshore farms or dams, feature optical fiber cables along them? And what if I tell you that we could actually “listen” to the structure’s “heart beating” through the optical fiber itself? By measuring the properties of the light traveling through the optical fiber we can turn a single optical cable into several thousand thermometers or microphones placed along tens of kilometers of distance, and, that way, we can accurately address the structure’s current status. Smart Moves for Smart Maintenance – Presented by Henk Akkermans, World Class Maintenance

Smart Moves for Smart Maintenance – Presented by Henk Akkermans, Director World Class Maintenance/ Professor Tilburg University, at the Intelligent Sensor Networks Conference, which will take place on November 8, 2017, at High Tech Campus Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

World Class Maintenance conducted a major research project in 2016 on the maintenance innovation priorities of Dutch industries. Some 50 experts from various industries and knowledge institutes gave their assessments on maintenance-related innovations for the coming years. Working with Smart Sensors came out at #2 in the resulting Top-10. Remarkably, most innovations in the top-10 are process oriented, rather than product and/or technology orientated. All technological innovations were data-driven, and seen as a condition for other innovations to succeed. Making infrastructure smart: From concept to reality – Presented by Yves Van Ingelgem, Zensor

Making infrastructure smart: From concept to reality – Presented by Yves Van Ingelgem, Zensor, at the Intelligent Sensor Networks Conference on November 08, 2017, at High Tech Campus Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

Operational and maintenance costs of the infrastructure we use on a daily basis are increasing significantly. Also very often we are confronted with delays, congestions or even accidents related to the state of our infrastructure. An optimal solution for this all would be smart structures. These are often talked about, but seldom realized. This presentation will showcase a number of real structures, such as bridges, that are instrumented with various types of sensors and where the sensor data is used in optimization or steering of daily operations. In a subsequent stage these structures will be followed by smart algorithms that will notify the owner or operator when maintenance is required or when things threaten to go South.
